Hey all
As three of us are going to the WFB GT which is an astonishing 43 days away as of today, I was wondering if anyone fancies playing some warm up games using the rulespack and the missions within!
Obviously this will suit Rich and Jonathan the most as they are going, but all are welcome (the rules pack can be downloaded from the GW site).
I'm going to aim to alternate between game systems over the next few weeks, so would like to pre-book any games in advance now.
Cheers
Tim

Afraid don't really play fantasy mate. Got a handful of high elves that I keep meaning to put on eBay and that's it I am afraid.

I'll give you a game Tim. I need to fight dark elves too.
Hi Tim, thanks for the game today although I'm sorry it was so one-sided. The dice were not kind to you.
Assuming you're in on Tuesday we can have a look at what things we can do with the Dark elves. I think you were very unlucky but some things could have been done very differently. I think the hydra's worth it, getting charged in the back by a unit of ghouls and still winning combat was impressive.
If you want it I can bring in a reaper bolter thrower if you want it. Or are you thinking about an extra hydra?
IF YOU WANT TO PRACTICE THEN I CAN MUSTER A 2000PT (ISTHAT THE RIGHT AMOUNT) HIGH ELF ARMY... LET ME KNOW THIS TUESDAY. PS I'M NOT THE GREATEST GENERAL THAT EVER LIVED WHEN IT COMES TO FANTASY...) CLIVE
Cheers sir. Yes, I got hammered. My list wasn't that good in retrospect though. Not too sure what I was thinking. I actually have two bolt throwers in my collection, so could bring two in to the list, but as per my message to you on warseer you'll see I'm struggling to fit things in, in decent enough sizes. It's getting quite stressful. I'll bring everything along on tuesday to go over with you if that's cool rich?
Cheers for the offer Clive. Do you want to play 2k a week on tuesday? (6th Oct)

Will try remember to put something together for the 6th then... Will have a look around and see if i can't make it something half decent to give you a proper test... haven'y played any larger games since 2nd ed...
It'll be brutal regardless! Elves vs Elves!

Elves vs elves will be extremely brutal.
I'll be happy to go over the list with you Tim.
Just to confirm, I will be there Clive.

I don't mind fielding 2000pts of Lizardmen if anyone wants a practise game against them?
Warning tho, I am a bit of a noob to wfb.

Do you want me to tailor an army to beat dark elfs or do you want something mor balanced??? Probably won't do me any favours anyway.
It's practice for the GT, go with the best cheese you can possibly muster. Don't tailor too much against Dark elves though, just generally sickening.
James; Jonathan Clack will be bringing his Vampire counts along to play mine, he's also very keen on GT practice so would probably be happy to play your lizards. I would too but have already been chatting to Luke about a game of 40K after playing Jon.
I can confirm what Richard has said is correct and I would be more than happy to play your Lizardmen, James, after playing (and hopefully beating) Richard.

Optimist.
Realist! lol
Well after unpacking the Lizardmen, they need a little work to get them to a playable standard.
I'll have them ready for next week for anyone who wants a warm up game.

I'm currently only planning to stay for my one game tonight. However, if this changes I can play you afterwards JC!

I think in the end I had good reasons to be optimistic.........

Did you win?

Yes he did.
Well done Jonathan. How did it play out?

Well the first big swing moment was my general fail 3 out of 3 5+ wards saves to die and thus start my army crumbling.
However the real clincher came when Jon's lord survived the charge of the blood knights by passing 7 out of 8 ward saves and I failed twice times to dispel it on 3 dice (needing just 8) meaning my knights died. My ld tests for crumble weren't so good either.
Blood knights still did good though. Two charges, two units destroyed (with the exception of the lord) over 20 dead after crumble each time.
Yeah, the two combats involving our lords were definitely the key points in the battle. The crumble tests didn't help, although the units without Vampires in were always going to be close to collapse by the end of the game.
The Blood Knights were at their destructive best, not missing once during the game as far as I can remember. In contrast my own elite units and characters had several poor rounds of combat, often relying on my weaker troops to pull off a surprise casualty or two. I think my Wights and Vampires had more rounds of combat when they inflicted NO wounds than ones where they did cause some. And the less said about my disastrous first turn the better.........
Still, the elastic of good fortune snapped back in my favour just when I needed it!
