Games with Truro Gaming Club (TAGS)

Hey guys,

I am in Conrwall for the next couple of weeks and am going to be gaming at my old club, the Truro Gaming club (TAGS).

If there is enough interest here, I was considering setting up a 40K competition between our clubs perhaps to take place on a Saturday/Sunday in preparation for the GT.

So...
- its about a 90 minute drive from Exeter
- 40K using the GT rules
- The best pastys in the world!

Let me know what you think; I will be speaking to a few of the Truro lads on Thiursday.

Cheers, Luke.

Mmmm pasties, I'm pretty much sold!

Though in reality it'll have to depend on the day for me, a week day evening would be ideal as weekends are in short supply! :(

It would have to be a weekend for me really. The missus parents live in Fowey so it is not inconceivable that I will be down in Cornwall again sometime this summer. Regatta season maybe but for the moment I am on call for the next two weeks so unlikely to be able to head down.

Perhaps a Friday would be best for a weekday? That way most of us wont have to get up early the next day for work.

OK... so thats 3 interested. :)

OK, Just returned from TAGS

OK,

Just returned from TAGS and had a really tense game against Necrons... those bastards just dont die!!!! :)

I spoke to Chris Ely, who is the chairman of TAGS and also works part-time at GW Truro. He was really keen for us to strike up a friendly rivalry between our clubs. Basically, I am happy to organise this event in its entirety but there are a few things they need to know so they can host us as best as possible.

1, Date. Really important - Saturday or Sunday is probably best. If we do a week night we will have problems getting time off work and getting back to Exeter. If we do an all dayer on Saturday parking at will be quite expensive if we park in the closest car park to the club. Sunday, however, is £1.60 all day.

2, Transport. The venue will be at the British Legion, Truro. This is about a 30 second walk from the GW and has a carpark nextdoor. Most possibly the best way is that we drive down and give lifts to people. If there is sufficient demand and if people are happy to do it I can look into hiring and driving us down in a minibus.

3, Food. One of the members of TAGS is a chef and has offered to make us hand made pasties! I think this is a really nice gesture to say the least.

So if interested, let me know what you think and please, let me know some dates that suit you and we will try and pick the one most of us can agree on.

Sounds good (especially the pasties!), can I suggest then we look at one 'away' weekend each month in September, October and November, perhaps with 40k at TAGS and Dice & Dagger in September and Novemeber leaving October in the middle to break these up - possibly with the previously discussed Rygas WFB event?

So Rob are you suggesting a

So Rob are you suggesting a weekend in September to head down to Truro?

OK, Sunday 20th September sounds ace. :)

But its important that people leave feedback about this date (good and bad) so we can give TAGS as much time as possible to prepare!

At the moment there are four people interested... surely theres more out there!?

Hey guys, It is really

Hey guys,

It is really promising to see the amount of people interested in visitng Truro. Excellent team commitment!

1. I have recently spoken to Chris who runs TAGS and he has realised that the 20th of September is no longer convienient as a number of their group are travelling to Belgium to play Bloodbowl!

How would people feel if we brought the date forward one week and travelled down on the 13th September?

2. This would probably be a good time to discuss transport. We will probably need 3 drivers and I dont think it is unfair to expect a contribution for petrol. I can take 2-3 depending on how much stuff we take!

ps. Marcus, I myself am Cornish so watch it matey! I may just have to stop shopping at Sainsbury's otherwise! :)

I'm afraid I'm unlikely to be able to make that date either, but I'll need to confirm that, will have an answer some point during the week, but I'd really like to see this go ahead even if I cant make it.

OK could people who can make

OK could people who can make the 13th September (9 days time) let me know on this thread please?

There has been a hitch with the pasties but you can have a decent roast dinner for 3.95 instead. There are plenty of places to grab something to eat on a Sunday in Truro so dont feel pressured in getting one.

Could you also say if you need a lift/can provide transport and want a roast dinner (they want to know numbers wise)?

Its a real shame that Rob and Dodge will not be able to make it, im sure there will be a next time. :)

Thanks guys, Luke.
