On the weekend of the 25th and 26th September we will be hosting a 4 player Team Event at our Eye of the Storm venue in Mansfield.

The rulespack will be written by Captain Fantastic (plastic?) Alex West.

Expect 6 games playing for your club/team and a shiny trophy for the winning team.

More details to follow as to forces etc soon. For now get the date in 'yer diary.

Will be £30 for the weekend including lunch on both days and free tea and coffee. Expect a groovy rulespack much like our excellent Warp Storm packs and a top atmosphere to boot.

We have lots and lots of top quality 40k terrain that actually blocks LoS and looks like it belongs on a 40k table - its all well painted too!

Sounds groovey to this dude, we will have a quick show of hands this tuesday and see who can make it and maybe get two teams together, although i don't think we should aim for an A and B team effort but just randomise the whole affair. Get writing those cheesy lists, now where is craigs number so i can borrow those nob bikers!

here's my emai lto andy

here's my emai lto andy joyce at warhammer world events:

Quote:
Hi Andy

I'm writing to you as a veteran attendee of the warhammer world grand tournament / throne of skulls scene. I'm mainly writing to feedback on the changes that will be implemented for this years tournament season, but also to seek clarification on why these changes have been brought in.

First off, allow me to quantify veteran. Along with a few members of our local gaming group, I've been attending the 40k heats at warhammer world since September 2003. I've invested rather heavily in the concept; starting a new army every year and recommending the event to others locally. This culminated in a word of mouth build up resulting this year in 11 of us making the trip from Exeter to Nottingham for the second 40k heat. We've also attended a few of the WHFB heats over the years.
We've enjoyed every tournament and I can honestly say that none of us have ever had a bad game at the events and have found them well run and an excellent weekend.

However, with the change towards five games over the weekend, along with no free (or even option to pay for) final weekend, it's a hard sell. With the option of attending events at Maelstrom games' new gaming hall that appear to offer a good alternative, we're looking like we're going to be forced to choose one over the other.

However, it may be that as with a lot of information that is discussed over the internet, we've simply not understood the changes and that they do indeed benefit the tournament community that Games Workshop has built up over the years. If I could please ask you to perhaps explain these points, I would be happy to put them to our GCN clubs down here in Exeter and hopefully round the group back up for another great weekend at Warhammer world.

Many thanks for your time,

So how many are commited to giving this a go? The tickets are on pre-order now and we need definates (shotgun not getting everyones ticket).

I can get tickets four

I can get tickets four tickets (i.e. one team), but i'll need the money (in cash) back before the end of the month.

So far this would be for, myself, tim and Rob.

Shotgun not driving (again) or organising hotels.

I'll probably regret it... (and you may too!) but I'll drive...

Shotgun not organising hotels, same for Tim (because I remember a few years ago when Tiom was supposed to book the hotel) so lucky number four gets to organise accomdation I guess!

I'm deffinatley in for this,

I'm deffinatley in for this, I think that there may be a few more people interested as well so we can prob get two teams on the go. If you want to go ahead and preorder 4 tickets tho that would be fine. We can always sort out who is in what team later on if we do get 8 players going! Sounds good, fuck the GT!

Well if enough people are

Well if enough people are interested for another team then you can count me in too. Could be fun, and if it isn't won't go back next year! Haven't played a team event before, unless you count doubles tourneys, so this will make an interesting change.

Right gays, Well I went to

Right gays,

Well I went to buy four tickets, and before you pay it asks for the specifics below of each entrant. I was going to fill this in with your details, but get them sent to my address. However, they also ask for the specific army you intend on playing with, and I didn't want to presume! So if you still want me to book your tickets can you let me know the following - or you can go ahead and book them yourselves I don't mind.

forename:
surname:
house no./name:
street:
town:
city:
county:
country:
postcode:
telephone:

And army type from the following list.
Chaos Space Marines
Daemon Hunters
Dark Eldar
Eldar
Imperial Guard
Necrons
Orks
Space Marines
Tau Empire
Tyranids
Witch Hunters
Blood Angels
Black Templars
Dark Angels
Space Wolves

Edit: Is is probably best that you email them to me - rather than posting them in a forum. - use the PM function.

I think the general feeling

I think the general feeling among the club members I've spoken to is that we will be going to this instead of the 40K GT this year (which has now been ruined), and is now sold out for the first (and currently only) 'heat'.

Currently we have one team going, myself, rob, tim, and clive. Last night Marcus expressed an interest, so we could nearly run a second team.

Team 1.
James
Tim
Rob
Clive

Team 2

I know Rich was possibly keen on this one and i'm sure we can bully someone to attend to make up the numbers. I still say we can always sort out who is on which team at a later date or did we book as a team??? Sure those nice guys at maelstrom won't mind if we change it. There not like the arseholes who work for GW with any luck....

Like i said i think we may be making up a 2nd team so shouldn't be a problem, The way i understand it tho is if you don't have the full numbers to make a whole team then they will put togethe players from around the country to make 4 players. Check on there website (Maelstrom). Should be a good event.

Well I've bought my ticket

Well I've bought my ticket now, although I haven't been unable to post up anything on their forum as their registration system is currently messed up.
