Game of battlefleet gothic/epic for the 11th?

I'd quite a like a game of epic or battlefleet gothic for the 11th. If anyone's up for a game of either please say so. I have the rules and enough ships for each side if it's battlefleet gothic but only my memory and a borrowed marine army for epic. (Not great on the epic stuff, hence the desire to play a bit.)

I'll have Epic stuff with me, but I'm playing 40k with Honsou first.

If you've time for a game

If you've time for a game afterwards I'll be happy to wait or find a game of something to bide my time.

Ian, since we've not played

Ian, since we've not played for a while and I recall last time we had to spend a fair bit of time looking things up because of it do you want to leave out flyers?

3000pts yes?

Honsou, I'll bring pre-pepared lists and all the bit necessary for a little battlefleet gothic game afterwards. A straightforward cruiser clash, your choice of Imperials or Chaos.

Yep, 3k no flyers. Ian

Sounds good Rich, looking forward to it. I'll take Imperials if you don't mind :)

Thanks for the game Ian, the

Thanks for the game Ian, the game went a bit more smoothly than the last although we still seems to waste time looking up rules. The fearless one was a bit unexpected and took surprisingly long to resolve. I have looked up the space marine 'they shall know no fear' rule for epic. It does have quite a few effects for assaults. Notably the following;

Halve the number of blast markers (rounding down) for assault resolution and the number of hits (rounding down) the marines suffer if they lose an assault. They also take two blast markers before dieing when shot at whilst broken. It would have left me a couple of stands after the devastating assault your aspect warriors inflicted on me.

Epic still plays very differently from any other system. Flames of war is about the closest I can think, Epic has such very different focuses for play. Thanks again.

I am sorry we never got the chance to play Battlefleet Gothic Honsou.

Ta. The other bit we got

Ta.

The other bit we got wrong is that the Wraithguard and Wraithlords shouldn't have taken any damage from the blast markers, just like the Warhound didn't. Not that it would have made much difference to the end result...

Good point, a formation

Good point, a formation comprised of Wraithguard and wraithlords only would be very scary though.

Next time I imagine you will make sure to stay on top of the objectives.

I was lucky to steal the initiative on turn two though. I hate to think what would have happened had I lost it and let you get the chance to escape with those scorpions.

I still don't really have

I still don't really have the hang of manoeuvring units closely enough to support each other - absolutely vital in Epic.

Well we both split our

Well we both split our forces into rather extreme flanks. However each of your forces was pretty substantial, whereas my left flank was rather weak, although just tough enough to hold on for a couple of turns.

I didn't support my units very well either and it was only the daring teleport attack from the terminators that swung things heavily in my favour. You have a better grasp of the potential from assaults and engagements. I never launched any combats and relied mostly on punishing fire superiority against specific units. Making use of cross fire helped enormously.

No worries Rich. Would love to catch up on that though- don't suppose tonight is any good?
